China Moves Up in Renewable Energy

BEIJING, Dec. 10 (UPI) — China is the second most attractive place in the world to invest in renewable energy, says an Ernst & Young report released Wednesday.

China ranked just behind the United States and has moved ahead of Germany for the first time in the reports’ six-year history due to its increased commitments to reduce emissions through its carbon intensity reduction plans, according to the study. China’s ranking has progressed from number four in 2008 and number six in 2007. Read more




Myth vs. Reality on the Copenhagen Climate Summit

The meeting in Copenhagen was always intended to be part of a process for structuring an international agreement, not the end of it. The same was true of the Kyoto Protocol—now currently the only international agreement on climate change— which took four years to negotiate and seven years to enter into force. In contrast the timetable for completion of a legally binding agreement out of the Copenhagen meeting is on a much faster track. The expectation that Copenhagen would produce a final agreement, however, was in part the work of a previous American administration. Read more
